The AR0522 is a 1/2.5-inch CMOS digital image sensor with a 2592 (H) × 1944 (V) effective pixel array. It can capture images in linear or high dynamic range mode with rolling shutter readout, which includes complex camera functions such as binning, windowing, and video and single frame modes. Designed for both low light and high dynamic range performance, it features interlaced T1/T2 readout to support off-chip HDR in the ISP chip. The AR0522 produces very clear and sharp digital images and is capable of capturing both continuous video and single frame images, making it suitable for a variety of applications.

Featuring ON Semiconductor's A-Pix technology, the 3.1-megapixel sensor addresses the needs of the growing surveillance market centered around full HD video through the superior performance of the new 2.2-micron pixel sensor. With excellent image quality, the AR0331 targets the mainstream market for 1/3-inch optical format surveillance cameras. The sensor enables surveillance camera manufacturers to upgrade performance to current 3-megapixel sensor designs with an industry-best feature set combining Full HD video and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) capabilities with built-in Adaptive Local Toning Mapping combined. Delivering up to 1080p HD video at 60 fps, the new sensor features advanced binning technology that enables the sensor's sub-1-lux low-light performance. The AR0331 image sensor is the second HD image sensor in ON Semiconductor's surveillance portfolio, and similar to the MT9M033 (720p/60fps), it features low-light and dynamic range capabilities, enabling surveillance cameras to capture HD in the most challenging environments video.
