The FAN9672 is an interleaved dual-channel continuous conduction mode (CCM) power factor correction (PFC) controller IC for use in a PFC pre-regulator. The FAN9672 combines leading-edge, average current, and "boost" type power factor correction circuits to allow the design of power supplies to fully comply with IEC1000-3-2 regulations. Interleaved operation greatly reduces input and output ripple current, and conduction EMI filtering is simpler and cost-effective. The innovative channel management function enables the power level of the slave channel to be smoothly loaded and unloaded according to the set voltage on the CM pin, improving the load transition response performance of the PFC converter. FAN9672 also incorporates multiple protection functions, including peak current limit, input undervoltage protection and TriFault Detect function.
